Remote Desktop Services

Remote Desktop Services (RDS) is an all encompassing term for features of Microsoft Windows Server that allow users to remotely access graphical desktops and Windows native applications. Clients can access desktops and applications from various client applications, operating systems and devices including non-Microsoft devices via the Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP). Remote Desktop Services supports virtualised graphics processing units (GPUs), to enable graphically intensive applications. Microsoft at this time provides Remote Desktop clients for Microsoft Windows, Apple macOS, Apple iOS, Google Android and aditionally HTML5-capable browsers.

Remote Desktop Solutions:

• Deliver solutions to devices that may not have the processing power or capacity to run the applications natively on their hardware.
• Provide more compute resources to an application without having to upgrade user devices thus the ability to reduce the cost of the end user devices. In addition this enables you to know that when users require more computing power, the compute power can be associated with the actual workloads that need it.
• Data can be stored in a secure location in the datacentre. If the end user device fails, is lost, or stolen the data remains safe a secure.
• Configuration time is reduced for new devices since the applications or desktop are delivered from the server and not are not stored on the local device. As new devices are setup, clients can just reconnect to their remote applications or desktops and commence work.
• Deliver Windows based applications to iOS, Android, Windows and even thin client devices.
